The bookie takes a tenner from the pocket of the punter,
Puts it in a list of numbers on the screen of a computer
it joins the other numbers and gets printed on a ledger
So the bookie can feel better, call himself a wealth creator.

The punter’s short of wonga so he finds himself a lender
Who can lend him wads of tenners where the interest is a fiver
the loan becomes a number in a chip in a computer

One daughter of the banker wants to work on cures for cancer
But it’s not as good an earner, so she emulates her father
While her sister is the lawyer who forecloses on the farmer
When she could be funding cures for her mum or dad’s dementia.
staring at the future with a fear of age or tumours
While their daughters who’d be teachers or researchers or their doctors
Move the money like a bookie and become a number counter
Chained to a computer persuading themselves, and us,

that they’re the wealth creators.

60 cents is destroyed when a bankers earns a dollar.
